For that anon confused about themes: From my experience, con themes are not enforced rules for cosplay. They're usually for marketing and merchandising purposes; such as themed images of the con's mascot on bags and t-shirts. The only exceptions would be cons for specific fandoms.
Okay.. I don't want to write you a novel but basically. I'm all new to going to cons and stuff. There is one happening in February and the theme is The Album. I don't even know that the heck that means Dx I want to cosplay Rainbow Dash or Vinyl Scratch but I don't know if I can being its themed! DDDx I just don't know. I'm so nervous! I don't really watch that much anime, but a lot of people I know said that its amazing
To be honest, I have no idea what that means either. I’m sure that nobody would mind if you were out of theme. Maybe check with one of your friends for verification on that though, if they’ve been there before they would know what it means. I hope you have fun :)
So I really wanna dress up for my next anime convention, but I'd rather not cosplay. I was thinking about doing a rave girl or cyber goth thing, but I don't know where to buy a corset and tutu and hair pieces and the leg fuzzies. Do you know where to get them? Or are there other things like Lolita and such where I'm still dressing up, but not cosplaying? Thank you!
There are lots of things that aren’t considered cosplay at conventions. I see lots of different things, so more than likely there will be quite a few others at the convention you’re going to. I, unfortunately, have no idea where to get such. Sorry :( But, if your going to order online, make sure you do your research and check reviews before you buy from them. Better safe than sorry. If you want to shop offline, I recommend (this is cliche but…) Hot Topic, I went there not too long ago and they had tutu’s out the wazoo. Man, I love the word wazoo xD. Hope this helps, and good luck ^_^
Concerning the tip of the cosplayer who can't get a wig, be careful with the spray color! It stains clothing and leather. I accidently stained my mothers vans seats head rests purple for a couple of years! And also Christmas is coming, so maybe asking a friend or relative might work ;)
I completely forgot to say it stains. xD and true you can maybe order a wig through a friend.
I really am sorry to bother you, but I have a question. I'm unable to buy any wigs at all. Really, it's not the price that matters, just the fact that I can't buy a wig due to my parents' disagreement. I can't dye my hair in the needed color- it doesn't matter if the dye is dirt cheap- my parents also won't let me. However, there are a lot of characters I want to cosplay that don't have hair of the same color as mine. I can style it to look like theirs, but is it okay if the color won't match?
Its completely understandable to cosplay without a wig. My parents didn’t really like wigs at first either. Its perfectly fine to just style your natural hair. There are some people who might point it out, just because its not “perfect.” Some people have a pet peeve about that, just try to ignore it, but don’t be rude about it if that does happen. Cosplay is about having fun and meeting new people, not about having the best cosplay or being absolutely perfect. Don’t worry about it, a lot of us have been there.
P.S. Maybe you can get that spray on hair color they sell at costume stores if you really want to color your hair. It comes out when you wash it, and maybe your parents will allow it. It might not look as good as a wig, but at least you wont feel bad about having the wrong colored hair. :)
Rosemary, a stray, gave birth to her kittens October 5th. She is estimated to be two years old. The two orange boys are Basil & Mace. The buff boy is Sage. The B&W girl is Pepper.
This is too cute guys, I just needed to share this xD
"I know a lot of people buy costumes online from eBay or whatever, I just wanted to suggest commissioning cosplays from fellow cosplayers as well. c: While you’d still have to do your research, I’ve found that it’s a great way to purchase cosplays because usually cosplayers who are open for commissions don’t use obviously cheap, shiny fabrics and all that jazz~" Quote from visionsofolivine
As long as you are 100% positive they will make the cosplay to your liking, go right ahead. I think commissioning cosplays is a really good idea for people with little sewing/crafting skill, and you want a very professional costume. Every single commissioned cosplay I have ever seen has been absolutely gorgeous, and well worth it. Some people will even work within your budget and make sure you know exactly what you are paying for. I personally think its a smart move to commission a cosplay over ordering it online, since you never really know what to expect with online shopping.
" If you’re going to dye your hair a certain color, wear old clothes before putting on your costume. Or if its a dress or a complex costume, wrap a towel around your neck and shoulders." Quote from Anonymous
I honestly thought this was a bit vague and hard to understand, so I changed it around a bit, I hope you don’t mind anon. Hair dye can get pretty messy, so be sure to wear old clothes you wouldn’t really care to ruin. Never ever ever dye your hair with your cosplay on, you can potentially ruin your cosplay. Even if you are positive you can dye your hair without any mess, still take precaution and don’t wear nice clothes or your cosplay.
P.S. Yay! My first post in a very very very long time. I’m so sorry I can’t even express it. As many of you know, my life has been extremely hectic, and, to be honest, I’ve been lazy. I apologize infinity times, and I will try to post at least once a day from now on :D
I don't want to seem rude, and I know you're really busy, but I think you should strongly consider letting someone else with more time run this. You haven't posted a tip or anything in almost 3 months...
Sooooo sorry, Its just a matter of picking people, I don’t know anybody personally that will help me run the blog, and I can’t just let random people have access to it, because one person can ruin it. I’m reaaaally really sorry, I have a lot going on in my life. I will consider interviewing people over skype, and i’ll see where it goes from there :)
